Maths at school. Many agonizing hours filled with knowledge which I have never used since; apart from calculating percentages and the rule of three. But who would have thought that all that mathemathical stuff regarding circles could be important in baking! Like how can I find the center of a cake board to fix a central dowel for my cake? Or how can I calculate how long my piece of ribbon/fondant has to be for it to wrap around the cake? More maths skills relating to everyday life might have made me more attentative back in school.

  1. a) To calculate the center of a circle – check out my sketch
  2. b) To calcalate the circumference of your cake multiply the diameter with “pi”, e.g. 20 cm diamter x 3,14 = 62,8 cm
