This is one of my grandmother’s recipes. Coming from a generation who lived through the war and its hardships she was always passionate about not throwing away food. I read recently that every German throws away an average of 80 kg of food a year. Take this figure for the entire German population and then for Europe… mind boggling! Statistics say that with the food we throw away we could feed the world 3 times over. Food for thought.
So when I saw my bananas getting brown rapidly, I knew that although they were past the eating consistency I liked, they were perfect for this recipe.
